I never knew just how popular Idaho potatoes were until I moved away from Idaho.
I mean whenever I would travel somewhere and somebody asked where I was from, they would always say, "Oh! Potatoes!" after I told them, "Idaho."
Some of those people wouldn't even know where Idaho was. But no worries! They know about the potatoes. ;-)
Out here (outside of the Famous Potato state), people are very particular about their potatoes. If you go to the grocery store and see Idaho potatoes in the produce section, you know you've hit the jackpot.
We went out to eat the other night and as I was browsing the side dishes, my eyes rested on the words,
"Idaho Mashed Potatoes." Mmmm.....of course I had to get them!!! They were delicious.
But I couldn't help smile at how important (and critical) those five letters are when it comes to consumers.
I did something unheard of as a fellow Idahoan. I bought Yukon Gold potatoes that were sold by the Green Giant company. And as I read the label to see where this company is established, I found it quite hilarious what I saw...
Distributed from Idaho Falls....but just so you know...they are NOT Idaho Potatoes. Do not be deceived. haha
